School Web Conferences

On Friday, August 27, 2010 I attended one of the school web conferences for my multimedia and video technology class. I have mixed feelings about the web conference, but overall I feel they are worth viewing.

First, the information was priceless because the syllabus had already been changed twice and several classmates and I had already been discussing the information posted on Epic Player, the different syllabi and the various emails. Compiling the information into one location is needed and the web conference helped with that.

What I did not like about the video conference is the audio. Often the audio will go out or there is background noise because someone needs to mute. The typed conversations are great, but I have to be careful not to get caught up in those and not pay attention to what is being said. I am more visual than auditory so I tend to gravitate to the written conversations.

Overall, I like to attend the video conferences. If my schedule does not allow me to attend it live, I pull up the recorded session. Often when I am talking with other classmates, we get our clarifications to the assignments from the video conferences.

  1. It seems that the conferences are the only way we can figure out what to do...I sure wish everything would match up and be in a single location! I feel instead of focusing on the objectives we are having to focus on playing search and find. I don't have as much time to do the work and play with the technology because so much time is being spent looking for answers...boo!
